The total fee for a birth doula package is set by your DOULA BASE independent contractor and is paid directly to the doula. The rate depends on experience, and DOULA BASE offers transparent pricing upfront. Below is the typical range for services in the NYC market:

  • Newer Doula (0-2 years): Typically ranges from $1,000 to $2,000+ per package.
  • Experienced/Certified Doula: Typically ranges from $2,000 to $3,500+ per package.
  • Highly Experienced/Specialized Doula: Typically ranges from $3,500 to $5,000+ per package.

If your primary doula is unavailable when labor begins, we activate our system to match you with another pre-vetted, qualified DOULA BASE doula immediately, ensuring you receive seamless, continuous labor support.

Our independent contractor doulas specialize in two distinct phases of the perinatal journey:
  • The Birth Doula focuses on the journey to and through labor. They provide pregnancy preparation, continuous physical and emotional support during labor and delivery, and assistance with the early postpartum transition. Their primary location is the hospital, birthing center, or home (during active labor).
  • The Postpartum Doula focuses on support after the baby arrives. They offer non-medical assistance with recovery, infant feeding/lactation, light housework, meal prep, and emotional wellness. Their service is provided in the client's home.

Yes, absolutely. Our doulas are experienced independent contractors who regularly attend births at all major NYC hospitals and local birthing centers. Current city policies allow the birthing person to have one support partner AND a professional doula present. Your doula will collaborate respectfully with the clinical staff on your behalf.
